The Blood Of The Lamb

Reading: Exodus 12:21-30; 1 Corinthians 5:7; John 1:29

Devotional: The Passover lamb had to be without blemish—the best of the generation, innocent and whole. Death cannot be confronted with leftovers. The blood on the doorpost wasn't magic; it was a sign of trust in God's promise: "When I see the blood, I will pass over you."

This costly substitute pointed forward to Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. At the cross, Jesus became our Passover Lamb, bearing the judgment we deserved. The question Exodus asks every person is this: When death comes near, what covers your house?

Your good intentions, morality, and religious activity cannot save you. Only God's provision—the blood of Jesus—is sufficient. Stop negotiating like Pharaoh. Stop trying to outrun death with distraction. Come under the blood of the Lamb and know that the Lord has provided the ultimate substitute.

Reflection Question: Am I trusting in my own goodness or in the finished work of Jesus as my substitute?
