Peace Stronger Than Violence

Reading: Matthew 26:47-54

Devotional: Peter's sword flashed in the darkness, attempting to violently protect Jesus from arrest. But Jesus rebuked him: "All who take up the sword will perish by the sword." Violence—whether physical, emotional, or relational—only begets more violence. It offers momentary relief but eternal torment. We lash out at threats, trying to control outcomes through force of will or aggressive action. Yet this approach destroys the very peace we seek. Jesus demonstrates a different way: surrender to God's plan, trust in His protection, even when circumstances look dire. What are you fighting against right now? What would it look like to put down your sword and trust God's sovereignty instead? True strength isn't found in fighting harder but in resting deeper in God's unshakeable promises.
