Reading: Exodus 34:1-9
Devotional: God reveals His character: merciful, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love. This is not a God who ignores sin, but One whose heart overflows with compassion. Israel didn't deserve another chance. Moses didn't out-argue God. The covenant was renewed because mercy is in God's heart. This is the good news we desperately need. Our hope isn't in getting our act together or producing enough sorrow. Our hope is that God's nature is fundamentally gracious. When you've failed, when you've built idols, when you've tried to control what only God should direct—mercy moves toward your mess. It doesn't run from it. God's mercy has a name: Jesus. Rest today in this truth: you are loved not because you're good enough, but because He is merciful enough.
