Selective Obedience Reveals Hidden Control

Reading: Exodus 19:21-25; James 2:10-13

Devotional: God kept repeating the warning: "Don't break through." Why? Because He knows our hearts drift toward control, especially in the areas we want to keep from His authority. Selective obedience—following God in comfortable areas while keeping "hands off" zones—is really an attempt to keep God useful but not authoritative. What's your "hands off" area? Money? Relationships? Forgiveness? That untouchable zone reveals where you're still trying to be your own god. True surrender doesn't negotiate. It doesn't say, "I'll obey here, but not there." Today, invite God into the room you've kept locked. His lordship over everything is what sets you free, not what imprisons you.
