The World's Peace vs. Christ's Peace

Reading: John 14:25-27

Devotional:
"I do not give as the world gives." Jesus distinguishes His peace from the world's counterfeit. The world's peace is conditional, earned through achievement, maintained through control, and fragile as glass. One job loss, health crisis, or relationship fracture shatters it completely. Christ's peace is given, not earned. It doesn't depend on your performance, circumstances, or worthiness. He leaves it with you—a permanent gift that remains through betrayal, grief, uncertainty, and loss. The disciples were about to face Jesus's crucifixion, yet He commanded: "Don't let your hearts be troubled." He knew trouble was coming but promised His peace would outlast it. What conditional peace are you chasing? What would change if you truly believed Christ's peace is already yours, freely given, permanently secured? Stop working for what's already been given.
