The God Who Interrupts

Reading: Exodus 8:20-32

Devotional: God's plagues on Egypt were not acts of cruelty but conversations—divine interruptions meant to shatter illusions. Like Egypt, we build our lives around false securities: careers, comfort, control. We flick switches expecting light, never considering our powerlessness. God lovingly disrupts these illusions, not to harm us but to free us from worshiping created things instead of the Creator. When circumstances feel like plagues—when God removes what we've trusted in—He's showing us reality. He's revealing that our modern gods of success, ease, and autonomy cannot save us. Today, ask yourself: What illusion is God trying to interrupt in my life? What false source of security am I clinging to instead of Him?
