The Long Way Is Mercy

Reading: Exodus 13:17-22

Devotional: God knew the shorter route. Everyone knew it. Yet He deliberately led Israel the long way because He knew they weren't ready for what they'd face on the direct path. The long way wasn't punishment—it was protection and preparation. When your life feels like an unnecessary detour, remember: God isn't confused about the route. He knows you, and He knows what's ahead. Sometimes the delay that frustrates you is the mercy that saves you. God is doing more than relocating you; He's forming you. The formation process is slow and sometimes confusing, but it's not random. Trust that the God who brought you out knows exactly where He's taking you, even when the path seems unnecessarily long.

Reflection: Where in your life does the "long way" feel frustrating? Can you trust it might be mercy?
