The Gift Of Limits

Reading: Exodus 16:1-30

Devotional: Manna came with restrictions, and that bothered the Israelites. Gather only what you need. Don't hoard. Rest on the seventh day. These boundaries felt unnecessary to people accustomed to scarcity. But God wasn't being controlling—He was being caring. The limits around manna taught them that security doesn't come from stockpiling but from trusting the Provider. We live in a culture that worships "enough," constantly gathering more to feel safe. But God's boundaries protect us from the corruption that hoarding brings: hearts that can't relax and hands that can't share. Sabbath isn't just rest; it's resistance against the lie that your worth equals your productivity. What if the restrictions God places in your life aren't obstacles to freedom but invitations to trust? Today, practice one limit as worship—stop checking your accounts obsessively, set work boundaries, or simply rest without guilt.

Reflection Question: What area of your life reveals that you're trying to be your own provider instead of trusting God?
