The Meaningless Things We Won't Release

Reading: Exodus 10:1-29

Devotional:
Pharaoh's final negotiation was absurd: "Take everything, just leave the livestock." After witnessing God's unstoppable power, he clung to something meaningless just to avoid complete surrender. We do the same. We admit sin, recognize God's authority, even surrender major areas—but keep one small thing. A relationship. A habit. Bitterness. Hidden sin. The thing itself isn't the point; it's what holding it represents: we're still in control. The human will abhors absolute surrender. We'll negotiate down to the ridiculous rather than give God everything. What's your livestock? What meaningless thing are you clutching just to prove you haven't surrendered completely? God doesn't want relief or partial obedience; He wants surrender, because He's worthy of everything.
