Reverence Over Results

Reading: Exodus 17:1-7; Psalm 95:6-11

Devotional: At Massah and Meribah, Israel didn't just ask for water—they put God on trial. Their thirst was real, but their posture was wrong. They approached God with clenched fists instead of open hands, demanding He perform on their terms. God still provided water because He's merciful, but He named the place as a warning: testing God reveals hearts that want to control Him rather than trust Him. Reverence isn't about religious politeness; it's about who sits in the driver's seat of your life. We often pray, "God, if you're really good, you'll do this my way, on my timeline." But reverent faith says, "Lord, I don't understand, but I trust You're still God." The difference isn't volume or emotion—it's surrender. Today, examine your prayers. Are you asking or demanding? Bring your needs boldly, but hold them humbly. Honor God while you wait, obey without explanation, and worship without guarantees.

Reflection Question: In what situation are you currently testing God rather than trusting Him?
