Darkness Before the Dawn

Reading: Exodus 10:21-29; Matthew 27:45-54

Devotional:
The ninth plague brought darkness over Egypt—a final warning before the ultimate judgment. Yet it also foreshadowed the Gospel: darkness falling not on sinners but on Jesus Himself. God is both the Judge of evil and the Provider of a substitute. The darkness you deserve didn't consume you because Christ took it upon Himself. This is God's severe mercy—interrupting our illusions while offering Himself as the sacrifice. As you approach His table today, stop bargaining. Stop delaying. Stop aiming merely for relief from discomfort. Aim for surrender. Give Him the livestock you've been clutching. He's worthy not just of most of you, but all of you. In His darkness, you find your light.
